Overview

This new edition of the Taranaki Mount Egmont map provides an even better view of the mountain environment for trampers and day trippers. The popular Pouakai Crossing and Pouakai Circuit on the north side of the mountain complement the more testing Around the Mountain Circuit track to the south.

The map shows the unique volcanic environment at a large scale, where all major features can be identified, increasing both the enjoyment and safety of walkers. The unusual biodiversity of the area creates interest at all levels. National Park and Reserve boundaries show the extent of these administrative features. The combination of the scale, twenty-metre contours and relief shading, gives a realistic landform.

Notes:

1. The Lake Dive Hut on the southern slopes of the mountain was burnt down September 2020. Refer to DOC for alternatives.

2. The correct name for Bells Falls is Te Rere a Tahurangi.
